Tony Cocker, currently CEO of Düsseldorf-based E.ON Energy Trading, has been nominated as the new CEO of E.ON UK.

Cocker will succeed Paul Golby, who retires at the end of 2011.

Cocker has led E.ON Energy Trading since its creation in 2008. In that time, he and his team have transformed E.ON's trading activities, bringing together businesses from across the group to create and build a single global business.

Earlier he spent 11 years in E.ON UK, where he served on the Board and held a number of senior roles, including managing director of the generation and trading businesses. He has an MBA from IMD in Lausanne, and a BA and D.Phil in Mathematics from Lincoln College, Oxford.

“I am delighted to be appointed to lead E.ON UK,” said Cocker. “It is a hugely interesting and challenging time in our industry, as we seek to change the energy system to reduce our carbon emissions whilst maintaining secure and competitively-priced energy for our customers.”

Paul Golby has led E.ON UK (formerly Powergen) since its acquisition by E.ON AG in 2002.
