Robert G Dawson, president and CEO of SouthernLINC Wireless, has been appointed to the Federal Communications Commission’s independent panel reviewing the impact of Hurricane Katrina on communications networks.

The Ontario Energy Board has announced that Marika Hare will join the board as managing director, regulatory policy development. She is currently general manager, central regional operations, at Enbridge Gas Distribution.

Australian Gas Light Co., the country’s largest energy retailer, has appointed Paul Anthony chief executive officer of AGL Energy, while Grey Hayes will become chief executive officer of AGL Infrastructure, the two appointments arising from a proposed demerger. Anthony was former executive vice president of British Gas Group, and Hayes was AGL’s chief financial officer.

Quentin Grady has been appointed senior vice president and general manager of the Americas for SPL WorldGroup, replacing Dave Mulit, who has been promoted to president of SPL Synergen – the company’s new strategic business unit for enterprise asset and work management.

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) has appointed Hank Courtright as vice president of the environment and energy analysis sector. Chris Larsen replaces him as vice president of the generation sector. Larsen was previously the managing director of EPRI International Inc., and a search for a replacement is underway.

The Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP) a not-for-profit association, has selected Meg Matt as its new executive director. She has been an active member of the AESP for ten years.

John Feltis has joined SmartSynch as vice president of SmartSynch Ltd., the company’s Canadian subsidiary. He was previously managing director of sales for The SPi Group in Ontario.

Sir John Mogg, the chairman of Ofgem, the UK gas and electricity regulator, has been appointed president of the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) and chairman of the European Regulators’ Group for Electricity and Gas (ERGEG). These bodies provide advice to the European Commission and develop co-ordinated regulatory practices for the EU’s independent national regulators.
