Frank Hyldmar, executive vice president of Elster, has become the new president of the European Smart Metering Industry Group (ESMIG).

Hyldmar, formerly vice president of ESMIG and former chair of the Multi Utility Metering working group, succeeds outgoing president Andreas Umbach, president and chief executive officer of Landis+Gyr.

Hyldmar is responsible for Elster’s electricity and smart grid activities, in which role he has been transforming the focus of the company from meter product sales to advanced solutions sales and rollout across the full smart grid value chain. He was also responsible for the European Commission’s Smart Grid Task Force expert group 2 on data security and privacy.

“We welcome Frank's experience and leadership to the ESMIG community,” said Umbach.
