Energy theft is an international problem, with billions of dollars of energy stolen annually from utilities.
Much has been done to identify and quantify the energy losses in distribution companies, and much has been accomplished to combat these with the new metering technologies. In Brazil, the regulator Aneel and all the distribution utilities have declared war to energy theft. But non-technical losses are decreasing only very slowly, and they are still at a level of 10 percent (US$3 billion per year) so the battle has not yet been won.
The 5th Metering, Billing/CRM Latin America will have a day devoted to revenue protection. With its hands-on workshop, in-depth sessions and ground breaking case studies this revenue protection day, sponsored by Choice Tecnologia, will tackle topics such as changing the attitude of the consumer, meter tampering, and systems and technologies to improve revenue protection for the utilities.
The 5th Metering, Billing/CRM Latin America 2007 conference and exhibition will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil from September 19-21, 2007.
