John Cowburn has joined the technical team at UK-based intelligent metering specialists PRI Limited as technology manager. He was previously in charge of strategic technology at Landis+Gyr, focused on developing smart metering concepts for the next generation of communication meters for AMR applications. He represents the UK metering industry on two IEC working groups on payment systems and reliability.

Dr Paul Golby, chief executive of E.ON UK, has been appointed co-chairman of the UK Energy Research Partnership, together with chief scientific adviser Sir David King. The UKERP will bring together key funders of energy research and innovation from government, industry and academia, and will be officially launched in January.

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) chairman Joseph Kelliher has announced that Susan Court will take over as a new director leading the Office of Market Oversight and Investigations – the office in charge of protecting energy customers from market manipulation in wholesale energy markets.

Dan Sabin has joined EPRI Solutions Inc., a subsidiary of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) as manager, monitoring systems – a newly-created position. Sabin was previously with Electrotek Concepts, where he managed the development and support for power quality data management and analysis software systems used worldwide by utilities, consulting engineers and industrial end-users.
