Australian Utility Week 2017 on 29-30 November, Melbourne, is large digital utility expo that profiles the digital strategies of water and power utilities. Utilities are under pressure to improve their operational efficiency while also adapting more customer centric interfaces to keep in touch with similar services offered by telcos, banks and internet retailers. The CIO is ultimately responsible for the strategic direction the utility takes on such issues as the Cloud based operating system, IoT security strategies and how to best way to integrate 3rd part software solutions. Adding to their stress is the need to recruit new staff with expertise in digital business when the ICT executive market is already constrained and their budgets are smaller than other sectors. Our show is focused on how CIO’s can best manage these challenges by creating a forum to share insights and successes.
