Chicago, IL, U.S.A., London, U.K. and Armadale, Australia --- (METERING.COM) --- July 5, 2010 - The Alliance for Water Efficiency in the U.S.A., Waterwise in the U.K., and savewater!® Alliance in Australia have established an international federation to develop and communicate best practice information on water efficiency.

All three of these countries suffer from water resource issues, with the U.S. and Australia suffering from years of long term droughts and many areas of the U.K. being defined as water stressed.

The International Federation for Water Efficiency (IFWE) will act as a global body focused on water efficiency best practice and will undertake water conservation projects that will benefit the international community.

“We are delighted to participate in this important international partnership, said Mary Ann Dickinson, president and CEO of the Alliance for Water Efficiency. “Our three organizations are the first water efficiency NGOs, so it makes sense to work together to achieve greater collective success in our water conservation programs.”

“There is a lot that we can learn from our friends in Australia and America as they have been practicing water efficiency for years and have run some very successful campaigns,” noted Jacob Tompkins, managing director of Waterwise. “The need for water efficiency in the U.K. is becoming increasingly important with our growing population, increased water use and large amounts of energy contributing to heating water in the home.”

“It is integral that there is a central body to establish best practice and consistency throughout the industry,” added Nigel Finney, CEO of the savewater!® Alliance. “IFWE will provide an opportunity to combine the best resources from Australia, the UK and the USA.”

Other actions covered under the agreement include sharing water efficiency project results and solutions, standardizing global definitions and nomenclatures used in the water sector, and compiling and maintaining a central database of best practice in water efficiency.

The IFWE also will work together with other global regions on relevant projects.
