Unitil Corporation, an investor-owned utility in the US, has selected Hunt Technologies for an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system for its electricity and gas customers. The contract will include more than 100,000 residential and commercial accounts in the utility’s territory.
Unitil will deploy the TS2 system, Hunt’s two-way powerline carrier-based system, to provide daily energy consumption data and continuous communication with each customer through Hunt’s exclusive “Always On” connectivity model. Equipped with Hunt’s Multi-Utility endpoint, the system is capable of reading electricity, water and gas meters from one endpoint, and transferring usage information over the power line to the utility.
The TS2 system also provides outage detection and restoration notification, system performance monitoring, remote service disconnect, load control and multiple meter platform compatibility.
