Texas, United States---(METERING.COM)---June 23, 2006 – As part of a meter service operation enhancement, FirstEnergy Corporation has selected Neptune Technology to implement the FieldNet utility field service automation system, giving the utility a customizable system to enhance its meter reading, revenue management and meter services operations.

Capitalizing on the efficiency of wireless data transfer, FirstEnergy expects to deploy 1100 specialized mobile computers, including 700 ruggedized GPS-enabled handheld computers and 400 ruggedized portable tablet computers with real-time communications from DAP Technologies.
