Cambridge, NE and St. Louis, MO, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- May 1, 2012 - Nebraska's Twin Valleys Public Power District (TVPPD) is to deploy Aclara’s TWACS and Demand Response Management System (DRMS) technologies, to provide a single, fully integrated platform for demand response, advanced metering and data collection, and power system management.

TVPPD will be replacing an outdated, legacy load control system with the DRMS, unleashing a host of new AMI network-based capabilities. With a reliable, scalable and flexible AMI network in place, the District will support future smart grid applications, and better initiate, manage and terminate load control events through a unified dashboard.

“The DRMS will help us to meet a number of critical goals, including expanding our load control capabilities, managing customer costs, and executing demand response requests from wholesale power suppliers far more rapidly,” said James Dietz, general manager of TVPPD. “In addition, Aclara will provide an advanced AMI network that will dramatically improve meter interface ability and customer engagement.”

This is the second public power district to commit to Aclara’s DRMS since the solution was launched earlier this year. Last month, Cuming County Public Power District (CCPPD), also in Nebraska, announced plans to roll out the DRMS.

Several other projects have been announced recently by Aclara. Among these, Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) of Lafayette, LA, will implement the company’s Meter Data Management (MDM) system, and Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation (BREMC) of Lenoir, NC will deploy Consumer Engagement as well as MDM.
