Thomas L. Kirkpatrick has joined Davies Consulting, Inc., (DCI) as Senior Vice President, Energy Practice, where he will lead not only the enhancement of current offerings, such as emergency planning, asset management, reliability, and change management, but also expansion of the firm’s strategic advisory services into emerging areas, including smart grid and renewable resources.
Kirkpatrick comes to DCI with more than 27 years of experience in the electric utility industry in all aspects of transmission, substation, and distribution systems, including the integration of technology into the grid.
Prior to joining DCI, Kirkpatrick worked for more than 25 years for American Electric Power. As Vice President of Asset Management for AEP’s 11 state distribution system, he was responsible for the development and implementation of strategic programs for capital, operations and maintenance investment, capacity planning of the bulk distribution system, and evaluating alternative energy sources. More recently, as Vice President of the AEP Ohio distribution territory, he led the strategic and tactical operation of the 1.4 million-customer Ohio service territory.
Kirkpatrick was most recently Vice President at Patrick Engineering, where he led the energy practice and focused on transmission, substation and distribution engineering services for electric utilities and industrial clients. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Gannon University, is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a registered professional engineer, a U.S. patent holder, and has published numerous technical papers in the IEEE Power Engineering Society.
