Madrid, Spain --- (METERING.COM) --- July 16, 2010 - IT company Telvent’s outage management system (OMS), Telvent OMS Responder®, has passed the industry’s first smart grid interoperability test of the International Electrotechnical Commission/Common Information Model (IEC/CIM) 61968 standard, Part 9 profile for meter data interchange, the company has announced.

Telvent is one of only two companies, including General Electric (GE), that have achieved recognition by EPRI for its OMS solution, the company said in a statement. The test demonstrated the reliability of the solution by seemlessly integrating it with other industry providers’ technology.

“Telvent provides utilities across the globe with smart grid solutions that can complement and improve their current technology and information systems,” said Ignacio González, Telvent CEO. “As the world moves closer to a smart grid, Telvent recognizes the importance of industry-wide standards and is honored to be one of only two companies to earn this recognition for our OMS solution.”

All Telvent smart grid technology offers standards-based interoperability aligned with government and industry priorities. This is key to the concept of a smart grid, which can only be achieved through the collaboration of multiple devices and software from many different providers.
