The Salt River Project (SRP) has completed a pilot of Elster Electricity's EnergyAxis® System, and will begin a production-scale implementation. Elster's system features two-way RF communications with its electronic single phase REX® meter and A3 ALPHA® meter collector, and the deployment will enable SRP to collect data for electricity consumption and TOU metering from residential and C&I consumers.

SRP is one of the larger power public utilities in the US, with about 800,000 power customers. For the fifth time in six years it was rated highest in customer satisfaction for residential electricity service among electricity providers in the Western US, according to the 2004 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study conducted by J D Power & Associates.

The utility said that Elster's system allowed it to gather meter reads remotely for monthly billing and for move-in/move-out activity, and that the system will allow it to improve productivity while building a platform for new customer service options.
