Westlake Village, CA, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- December 3, 2007 – New Jersey Natural Gas has received the prestigious Founder's Award from J.D. Power and Associates for its outstanding commitment to customer service in the utility industry. The award was presented by J.D. Power III, founder of J.D. Power and Associates, to Kathleen T. Ellis, senior vice president of corporate affairs and marketing at New Jersey Resources.
A discretionary award presented periodically, the Founder's Award recognizes individuals or companies demonstrating dedication, commitment and sustained improvement in serving customers. In the 39-year history of J.D. Power and Associates, only 18 companies or individuals have previously received the award.
"The Founder's Award signifies truly outstanding achievement and we are pleased to participate in the Global Energy Awards -- an event that reflects our long tradition of rewarding excellence," Power said. "New Jersey Natural Gas joins a select list of world-class customer-focused organizations that set the standard for all businesses."
NJNG consistently ranks among the East Region leaders in the J.D. Power and Associates Gas Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study. NJNG is one of the fastest-growing local distribution companies in the United States, serving more than 471,000 customers in central and northern New Jersey.
"New Jersey Natural Gas has a company-wide focus on customer satisfaction that extends from the boardroom to the field," said Power. "This commitment to customers extends from billing to a focus on good community citizenship and the environment. The quality of their management is illustrated by the fact that they have been able to rank at the top on customer satisfaction and maintain top-tier financial performance without raising their base rate during the past 13 years."
NJNG recently implemented its "Conserve to Preserve" program to encourage wise energy use for the protection of the environment and natural resources. It estimates that the average NJNG customer, following energy-saving tips provided by the gas company, will save approximately $332 on their natural gas bill over a 12-month period.
