Lucent Technologies has signed a nine-year, $187 million contract with Capgemini Energy to provide a full suite of network management services. Lucent will serve as the network services provider with Capgemini Energy, a limited partnership between utility TXU and Capgemini.
Under the agreement Lucent Worldwide Services will provide Capgemini Energy with managed local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) services comprising the planning, engineering, installation and management of data and voice networking, including call centres. Lucent will upgrade and deploy a next-generation Voice over IP (VoIP) converged communications infrastructure.
Capgemini Energy is providing business process services and IT solutions to TXU, with future plans for the partnership to offer similar services to other energy and utility companies.
