Jacksonville, FL and Atlanta, GA, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- January 9, 2012 - Florida utility JEA has signed a five-year extension of its services agreement from 2016 to 2021 with Landis+Gyr for management of the utility’s advanced metering network.

JEA’s advanced metering program for electric and water meters has operated under a managed service agreement with Landis+Gyr since 2001. Under the agreement, Landis+Gyr deploys, maintains and operates the advanced metering network and provides data management services for the utility.

“Before extending our contract, we reviewed the option of taking over operation of our advanced metering network, but after a brief study, we concluded this was the best option for us and our customers at this time,” said Marlene Murphy-Roach, vice president of Customer Relations at JEA.

JEA’s network collects daily metering data from 730,000 electric and water endpoints. In April 2011, the utility began adding Gridstream™ infrastructure to its network to provide full two-way communications with endpoint devices.
