IURPA joins with NURPA for the 2001 Fall Conference

The 2001 NURPA/IURPA joint conference will be held at the Sheraton Ferncroft Resort Hotel in Danvers, Mass., from 10-12 October.

Located approximately 15 miles north of the city of Boston, the Sheraton Ferncroft is a full-service resort hotel with 376 rooms. The complex houses two magnificent golf courses, tennis courts, outdoor and indoor pools, and a complete health club.

The conference dates coincide with the spectacular fall foliage season in New England, when people travel from all over the world to see fields and mountains ablaze with color. Visit the city of Boston. See the Old South Church, Bunker Hill and Boston Harbor, just to name a few historical sites. Other attractions popular in this area during October are the museums of Salem — the site of the infamous witch trials — and the Topsfield Fair, one of the few remaining old-time country fairs. Both are close to the hotel.

Because New England is such a popular destination in the fall, hotel rooms in the Boston area are hard to come by or premium-priced. We have blocked 100 rooms with the hotel at $144 per night—a very good price for the area and time of year. We recommend that you call the hotel at (978) 777-2500 to book your stay no later than August 10. They will hold the room rate for you if you want to stay over the weekend.

You must mention IURPA/NURPA to get the reduced room rate.

Registration will begin on Tuesday afternoon as the conference starts on Wednesday morning. General sessions will feature international speakers who will be discussing revenue protection efforts around the world. Preliminary topics include:

  • NEC electric service requirements
  • Gas metering
  • Gas meter tampering
  • Fraud
  • Trial preparation for diversion
  • AMR/meter reading systems/vulnerability to theft
  • Network metering.

A full agenda will be posted on the IURPA web site www.iurpa.org shortly. We invite you to join us in Boston for a memorable conference.
