Carlsbad, CA, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- February 25, 2008 – Several growers in the state of California are trialing electronic water meters, to establish their effectiveness in lowering consumption and identifying system leaks. These farmers all are taking part in an agricultural water program, which offers them lower tariffs if they agree to be the first users to experience cutbacks at times of heavy demand.

If the trials show sufficient benefits, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District hopes to roll out the new meters to all customers, both residential and business. The meters are read remotely, and hourly consumption data makes the identification of leaks much easier.
