In the US, California-based provider of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions Enlighted Inc. has announced plans to expand its business activities to Mexico targeting energy efficiency in commercial buildings.

Enlighted will work with its distribution partner Yolk Soluciones Creativas, an affiliate of Grupo Asercom, an ISO 20000 certified company with more than 26 years of experience in energy, smart home and IT solutions.

According to a statement, the smart sensor network deployed is aimed at improving energy efficiency in buildings. The data collected will enable applications such as space planning, indoor positioning and retail store analysis.

The first step in the deployment is to implement smart sensor technology, installing sensors into existing light fixtures. The company claims that the sensor network will collect data through, “dense collection and analysis of motion, light and individual heat information”,

Héctor Cárdenas, chief executive officer of Grupo Asercom, said: "Enlighted's smart sensor network provides valuable insights about how commercial buildings are being utilised– insights that customers in the Mexican market have not been able to realise until now."

Christian Rodatus, executive vice president of Enlighted, added: "Our customers include some of the largest global corporations and many of them are investing in commercial real estate in Mexico to fuel their growth in industries, including manufacturing, transportation, information technology and more.

"We rely on the expertise of local partners like Yolk Soluciones Creativas to effectively deploy our commercial IoT solutions and meet demand in this emerging market."
