Dallas, TX, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- August 4, 2010 - Retail electric provider dPi Energy has introduced its Smart PrePay (pay as you go) service for customers with smart meters.

Customers can sign up for the service with no credit check, no identification, and no deposit.

“dPi Energy is thrilled to be among the first energy companies to bring the benefits of this exciting new technology to our customers,” said dPi Energy CEO Thomas O’Roark. “It puts customers in control by arming them with information about their usage patterns. It also gives customers the option to determine how frequently and in what quantities they purchase electricity.”

Smart PrePay customers can obtain daily or weekly data by cell phone or email, giving them the ability to manage their costs in near real time. In addition they are notified when they are down to three days of power, enabling them to purchase smaller amounts of energy on a more frequent basis.

dPi Energy also will be “apps” for smart phones to enable customers to access their smart meter information.

Approximately 1.5 million smart meters are already installed in Texas. By year end, an additional 1.6 million will be in service, with an estimated 5.7 million total in 2013.
