US data security and bandwidth management company Centri has announced its BitSmart cyber security solution for the Internet of Things (IoT).
The Seattle-based company claims that its product can protect users of IoT devices through the authentication and security of their data throughout its entire lifecycle while in use, in transit or at rest.
Centri said in a statement that it has also joined Intel's IoT Solutions Alliance in a bid to share its cyber security solution, with the California-based technology company and its ecosystem of developers.
The Intel Alliance comprises more than 400 members, with a view to “provide scalable, interoperable solutions that accelerate deployment of intelligent devices and end-to-end analytics.”

Centri BitSmart security features
The BitSmart solution offers developers features such as low latency data throughput, encrypted data on devices and cloud shared storage, encrypted communication between device and application server and lightweight data optimisation between device and application server to reduce bandwidth at real time.
The release adds that BitSmart can be used in numerous IoT scenarios, chipsets and devices. Energy firms, for example, can “secure and control remote operations, equipment or the grid from hackers and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.”
For manufacturers, the solution can deliver secure information across clod or corporate networks securley.
BitSmart features can also be used for transportation in order to protect operational controls of vehicles or trains without losing the advantages of connected services.
