Alan H. Richardson has joined Eka Systems, a global provider of advanced metering infrastructure and smart grid solutions for electric, gas and water utilities, as chairman of its advisory board.

Richardson recently concluded a 31-year career with the American Public Power Association (APPA) where he served as the Association's President and CEO for the last 12 years. The APPA is the national service organization that represents the interests of the nation's nearly 2,000 locally owned, publicly controlled electric utilities.

Before joining the APPA, Richardson was the Majority Counsel for the Committee on Rules in the U.S. House of Representatives and previously served as the Assistant to the Parliamentarian of the House. He was a Litigation Attorney at the U.S. Civil Service Commission earlier in his career.
