Perth, Scotland --- (METERING.COM) --- June 4, 2007 – Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) will introduce a program that rewards its 7.5 million customers if they reduce the amount of energy they use. Customers will receive vouchers up to a maximum of £100 ($200) if they cut annual consumption by 10 per cent, agree to move to an EBPP (electronic bill presentation and payment) system, or install more energy-efficient appliances.

Several U.K.-based utilities have introduced similar programs in an effort to reduce the amount of energy used and thus assure customers that they are conscious of the need to protect the environment. SSE’s new scheme will be introduced towards the end of 2007.
