German home automation company RWE Effizienz has extended access of its Lemonbeat communications protocol to developers to accelerate IoT development.The company will allow access to Lemonbeat smart Device Language (LsDL) to developers and manufacturers in North America.
RWE Effizienz states that the protocol operates independently of transmission method (Ethernet, WLAN, Bluetooth, Powerline, Thread) and is designed to be flexible and expandable to be scalable to ensure interoperability with existing and future devices.
The LsDL also removes the interoperability barriers that have previously stifled development of the Internet of Things, according to managing director Holger Wellner of Lemonbeat, a new company created by RWE to drive the solution.
"A common communication concept is the key to speeding up innovation within the IoT industry and promoting the proliferation of devices.
"We have taken advantage of our technological edge as the market leader in Germany to develop Lemonbeat.
"The next step is standardization of the design language, which we believe will more quickly and cheaply usher in the products and services that will make up a network of distributed and linked intelligence."
IPv6 tech for IoT communications
The company’s IoT wireless network is reported to use proven XML Internet standards and IPv6 technology to offer additional technological benefits including efficient, low-power operation, flexibility to a support vast amount of devices, future-proof connectivity for mesh and star network topologies and security to reliably exchange information and protect privacy across connected networks.
RWE Effizienz launched Lemonbeat in the last quarter of 2015.
