Helsinki, Finland --- (METERING.COM) --- June 30, 2008 – Smarteq has delivered the first antennas for the installation of new-generation utility meters for wireless transfer of data in a project that will see 120,000 of the meters installed in the first phase, to be completed in 2010

The project is managed by Helsinki Energy, part of the utility corporation Helen Sähköverkko Oy, responsible for distribution of electricity in Helsinki. Meters are supplied by the Finnish company Aidon Oy.

At the completion of phase one, approximately half of all the electricity meters in the Helsinki region will have been upgraded for remote reading.

“Our goal is to offer our customers, the utility companies, technical solutions that increase customer service, rationalize work processes, and increase the efficiency of management of the meters,” said Petteri Heinänen, Director of Marketing at Aidon Oy.

“This is a breakthrough for Smarteq as we now seriously enter the Finnish market,” said Lars Ericson, CEO at Smarteq. “Again, we gain recognition for providing antennas and know-how of the highest quality on the international market.”
