First Utility is a supplier of gas and electricity in the United Kingdom, based in Warwick. In October 2013 the company was ranked as the seventh largest supplier in the UK, making it the largest outside the Big 6.

Over the next 18 months, SMS will gain ownership of up to 150,000 domestic dual fuel smart meters.

The meters will reportedly be funded by SMS and supported by its revolving credit facility.  The Herald notes that “suppliers with whom SMS has contracted for the domestic smart rollout currently provide services to 1,549,000 homes in the UK market.”

SMS Total Gas and Power deal

Last year, Smart Metering Systems signed a deal with London-based Total Gas & Power (TGP) to install 5,000 electricity meters and manage meter data in the period up to April this year.

The deal marked a continued partnership between Smart Metering Systems and TGP.

Karole Downton of TGP, said: “Total Gas & Power enjoys a strong relationship with SMS’s Gas Divison and the extension of the relationship to SMS’ Electricity Division was the logical next step.”

Alan Foy, chief executive of SMS, added: “This agreement with TGP is further demonstrates of the success of our electricity division and the positive impact of expanding our service offering across the gas and electricity sectors to provide a fully integrated service in these markets for our customers.”
