Beijing, China and Oslo, Norway --- (METERING.COM) --- December 21, 2006 – The Energy Research Institute of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), a macroeconomic management agency under the State Council which studies and formulates policies for economic and social development, maintains a balance of economic aggregates and guides the overall economic system restructuring, has signed an agreement with DNV of Norway to develop a measurement and verification system for China’s energy consumption that is compatible with international standards. DNV is an international consulting firm with offices worldwide, offering verification and qualification services.
The two organizations will oversee pilot projects in regions where energy consumption is highest, and will examine the feasibility of promoting an international energy management qualification system in China. They will also train Chinese firms in energy auditing and management systems.
China is also a partner in a joint venture with Japan to investigate energy saving possibilities. The Binhai Sino-Japan Energy Management Co. Ltd. will focus on the development, manufacturing and marketing of energy-saving software and equipment, and will provide clients with energy saving technological services.
