Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan --- (METERING.COM) --- June 12, 2012 - Leading Kyrgyzstan electricity power utility Severelectro has awarded ADD GRUP’s distributor, AK-AY Elektrik, a contract to install an advanced metering infrastructure comprising more than 100,000 smart meters.

The rollout will be preceded by a pilot project in Bishkek, the country’s capital city.

For the project, ADD GRUP will supply the smart meters as well as the data concentrators based on ADDAX Technology. The solution deployed will use powerline communications (PLC) based on S-FSK modulation for data transmission between the meters and the concentrators. Communication between the concentrators and the data center will be via GPRS and CDMA. The use of PLC will significantly reduce the system operating costs.

The project is part of Severelectro’s network rehabilitation initiative and the Kyrgyzstan power sector efficiency improvement project supported by Germany’s KfW Bank.

“We believe the implementation of the ADDAX AMI solution into the grid of Severelectro will reduce non-technical losses and will improve the management of the grid. All the stakeholders of the Kyrgyz electricity market will take advantage of the increased transparency and network reliability,” said ADD GRUP’s head of Sales and Marketing, Ruslan Casico.
