African Utility Week is less than three weeks away, and if you have not yet registered for this important power, water and gas event, time is running out! The City of Cape Town is once again the host utility and this is an appropriate time for planning and giving input into Africa's energy and water crises. The event is to take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 28 May - 1 June 2007.

In 2006 there were over 1200 delegates. If you have not yet registered we urge you to do so as soon as possible, as space this year is limited.

African Utility Week includes four major industry events under one roof – the 6th annual South African Prepayment Week, 8th annual Metering, Billing/CRM Africa 2007, 9th annual Southern African Power Industry Convention 2007, and ESCO Africa.

The detailed and diverse programme will equip you to increase your understanding of developments in the power, water and gas sectors, and assist you with the tough decisions you are faced with every day with regard to generation technologies, tariffs, customer service, energy efficiency, demand side management, billing and metering systems.

There are over 70 industry experts speaking at the event, including:

  • Honourable Minister Ms Buyelwa Sonjica, Minister of Minerals and Energy, South Africa
  • Mokoena Smunda, CEO, NERSA, South Africa
  • Mutima Sakrini Herman, Secretary General of UPDEA
  • Lawrence Musaba, Co-ordinator, SAPP, Zimbabwe

Don't just hear it – see it, by going on one of the organised technical tours. There are three unique technical study tours which enable you to go into the field and speak to the utilities and consultants on the projects. The tours include Advanced Metering and Infrastructure, Power Station and Transmission and the Energy Efficiency and Energy Management Tour. Book your seat on the bus!

Training workshops
There are also a number of international and national workshops to choose from, such as the Advanced Metering workshop by Howard Scott, a well-known international consultant, as well as a Power Quality workshop by Robert G Koch, a Corporate Consultant in the Resources & Strategy Division in Eskom.
