Sana’a, Yemen --- (METERING.COM) --- March 2, 2010 - Yemen’s ministry of electricity and energy is reported to be planning to start installing prepaid electric counters in an effort to reduce the number of collectors, operation costs, overdue payments and non-technical losses.

An official at the ministry was quoted as saying the ministry and the Public Electricity Corporation would implement a pilot project with 15,000 meters in Secretariat Capital this year.

If it proves successful, the technology would be rolled out to various provinces as from 2011.
