Iran 2Tabriz, Iran --- (METERING.COM) --- November 23, 2006 – Iran embarked on a four-year Energy Management Promotion Project in 2003, with technical cooperation from Japan, and a joint final evaluation report has recently been produced by the Iranian Energy Ministry and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The main purpose of the project is to improve energy management in the industrial sector, with a view to making Iran’s exports competitive internationally and to encourage environmental awareness. JICA experts have visited the training center established in Tabriz, and Iranian personnel have attended training courses in Japan.

The evaluation report studies the achievements of the Japanese technical cooperation in five areas – relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability of the project.

Hiroshi Kurakata, the resident representative of the JICA Iran office, said: “Japan is the pioneer country in the field of energy efficiency, and I hope JICA has contributed to this transfer of technology and boosted the expertise of Iranian engineers.”
