Under the deal, the Ontario-based energy efficiency firm managing and implementing utility’s ‘Business Refrigeration Incentives Programme’.
The Business Refrigeration Incentives Programme aims to help business consumers operating in Powerstream’s service territories reduce energy usage.
The platform equips businesses with energy efficiency refrigeration equipment and provides incentives for energy usage reductions.
PowerStream is a community owned utility firm providing electricity to some 380,000 consumers in Barrie, Markham and Vaughan cities in Toronto and Ontario states.
Under the new deal, Franklin Energy Services will partner with a local refrigeration firm to implement the programme.
The two parties will recruit Powerstream’s business consumers to participate in the energy efficiency programme.
In a press statement, Franklin Energy Services said it will be responsible for assessing consumers’ sites to see if they qualify to participate in the programme.
Franklin Energy Services will use its energy efficiency technology suite ‘Efficiency@Work’ to integrate online customer applications and field data collection.
The suite will also be used to help participating consumers monitor and manage their energy usage using mobile applications. [Canada partners on energy storage technologies].
Raegan Bond, vice president of PowerStream’s Conservation and Demand Management, commented: “PowerStream is focused on providing local small businesses the opportunity to manage their businesses more efficiently and drive energy savings to the bottom line.”
In other news, in mid-August, US power utilities New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) signed a deal with Franklin Energy Services.
The deal includes the Port Washington-based Franklin Energy Services managing energy efficiency programmes for the two AvanGrid owned utilities.
The projects will focus on helping residential, commercial and industrial customers to implement sustainable energy usage behaviours, save energy and money.
The energy efficiency initiatives will provide the 1.2 million electricity and 575,000 natural gas utility customers with rebates for energy saved.
