In Japan, Chubu Electric Power partnered with data analytics firm Bidgely to improve its customer engagement and services to its 16 million consumers.In a statement, Bidgely said it will use its data analytics software to help Chubu Electric Power analyse smart meter data and develop new services for its customers.
The partnership is an initiative by Chubu Electric Power to improve its business intelligence and communication with customers through the use of innovative technologies.
By using the software-as-a-service data analytics platform, Bidgely claims the utility will help consumers improve their energy efficiency by providing them with energy consumption data of each appliance in their homes. Consumers will receive energy efficiency notifications and tips on their mobile devices.
Bidgely and Chubu Electric Power "are working together to become the first to bring residential disaggregation technology to Japan," says the two companies in a release.
Bidgely CEO Abhay Gupta, said: “Chubu’s proactive move toward a modern customer engagement platform ahead of the competition shows they are amongst the utilities that are evolving with the digital era, rather than falling behind the times.”
Data analytics software and grid integration
In a press statement, Consolidated Edison announced that it contracted the company to integrate its IoT solution with Con Edison and Orange and Rockland Utilities’ grid networks.
Con Edison and Orange and Rockland Utilities will use the IoT technology to achieve reliable and secure grid data telemetry from multiple smart grid applications to enhance management of grid networks in real-time, reduce operating costs and improve their customer services by introducing new business models.
The solutions provider claims that its IoT solution will enable utilities of Consolidated Edison to “ensure the optimal deployment and operational health of 5 million smart meters, and develop new products and services for improved customer engagement.”
Con Edison and O&R expects that the cloud-based solution has the ability to store 480 million meter data points per day.
