AMI, an integrated system of an energy data acquisition head-end system (HES) and energy data management metering data management (MDM) system, when combined with a smart metering device, can form a comprehensive network and system of energy data.

The HES can realise automatic measurement and acquisition of energy data and the MDM enables data verification, storage, analysis and application. Based on GIS map information, it provides archives of grid devices and electricity users, forming an integrated data model covering substations, feeder lines, transformers and electricity users, achieving data collection from metering devices on the supply, distribution and vending sides. It is a powerful information backup for load control, prepayment, power outage management, power quality management, line loss management and customer service.

AMI helps to measure and visualise energy data information, greatly accelerating the utility’s operation mechanism and management workflow. Through AMI, a utility can establish a universal communication infrastructure and information integration system for more advanced application in the future, which will lead the electricity industry and grid network in a smarter direction. AMI Workflow

Establish: Establish user file in the AMI system

• Standardised user file structure: According to the “substation – feeder line – transformer – energy user” structure to establish complete power topology and energy user files, supporting one user with multiple meters. It establishes a basic model for line loss calculation and data analysis.

Metering: Include task-based automatic data collection and automatic re-collection

• Task-based automatic data collection mechanism: Support collection by DCU or GPRS or multiple modes, stipulate correspondent reading tasks as per reading standards of various meters to realise automatic data collection.

• Automatic missing data recollection mechanism: Support automatic missing data recollection or manual recollection through hand held unit.

VEE: Validation, Estimation, Edit

• Validation: Check collected data from meters to see if they are correct or not.

A validity or plausibility check is usually done on energy data (Watt-hour and VARhour) but seldom on instantaneous data such as current, voltage, frequency, power and so on. It can be done in real-time (checking data immediately after reading and before storing in data base); and can also be done on existing data (data collected from meters).

• Estimation: When reading a meter, there may be times when some of the data might not be able to be read due to a communication problem. In this case, the VEE module can estimate these missing values and store these estimated values in the database.

• Edit: VEE gives the operator accessibility to edit and change values of data in the database. Users can change parameter values one by one or in bulk.

Storage: Save the validation results and the original data in the database

• The original data: The data collected from meters or concentrator by the AMI system.

• The validation results: The data results from the VEE, including the validation results, the estimated data and the edited data.

Analysis: Analysis and statistics of the collected data

• Outage events: A comprehensive blackout event report will be generated based on actual outage events, power restoration events. The report includes details such as outage time, restoration time, outage hours.

Furthermore, energy users will be notified by receiving messages automatically from SMS.

• Power quality: Including voltage qualification rate, three phase unbalance rate, harmonic analysis, etc.

• Meticulous management of line loss: Including both daily and monthly

information of partial pressure line loss, partial line loss, sub-line line loss and subtransformer line loss.

• Load rate statistics: Can calculate the load rate of the transformer according to the established formula. Can detect overloaded transformers.


• Distributed processing mechanism: Head-end server uses distributed processing mechanism, real-time processing batch data, the efficiency of processing is well guaranteed.

• IEC61968 standard interface: Using IEC61968 international standard interface allows the AMI system to be integrated with other manufacturers’ MDM or HES systems.

INHEMETER’s Power Site Work


Power Site Work Assistant is a smart field operation application, used for all kinds of daily operations in the power site. It can communicate with the AMI system through GPRS, enabling business interaction and data exchange with the AMI system. It meets almost all the daily operational needs of the utility. Additionally, it includes installation registration, replacement, removal and binding/unbinding of concentrator. It supports data reading of all kinds such as load profile, instantaneous data, power usage, events, etc. And the configuration of communication parameters and other daily operations such as tamper clearance, switch-on or off and timing through infrared, Bluetooth or RF is also provided. This application is a completely map-based interface with a user-friendly design, offering a satisfactory user experience.

Main Functions:

• Archive management: It supports meter registration operations, replacement, removal, file modification, etc. Operation logs can be sent to the AMI system via our application.

• Supplementary meter data reading: The meter data that is not successfully collected by the AMI system can be transferred to this application so that operators can collect data on site through RF, infra-red, Bluetooth or a remote order from the AMI system.

• On-demand reading and set parameters: At the power site, the application supports on-command reading, load profile data reading, switch on or off, configuration of communication parameters via infra-red, Bluetooth, RF.

• Concentrator binding and GPS uploading: This application supports meters’ binding with concentrators and concentrators’ binding with meters and is able to upload the GPS position signal to the AMI system. MI
