October 5, 2011 - With the development of new technology water meters without moving parts, for example ultrasonic, allows for more precise measurement of water consumption without the impact of air and grit.

At the Water Meter Middle East seminar, taking place on 25 October in Dubai, Mr Flemming Christensen from Utiligence, will be presenting on a metering strategy that identifies the challenges for water utilities from the field handling of smart water meters and communicating with them, to the impact of the business processes in the utility and the opportunities for this data.

To capitalise on smart water meters, tools and work approaches need to accompany the new opportunities, like the collection of data additional to consumption, with the chosen communications and transmission frequency impacting the battery life of the meter. The structure of the utility being either joint water and electricity or individual, is impacting the opportunities for the communications selection and the whole metering architecture.

To find out more on smart water metering communication opportunities, register now for Water Meter Middle East taking place in Dubai on October 25, 2011.

"The water utilities are seeing a bright future for easier, simpler and more robust water usage accounting with stand-alone smart water meters with both long life time and a simpler maintenance regime”, states Flemming,“allowing utilities to reduce losses and improve efficiency."
