The next wave of smart grid activity is not only happening in the U.S., Europe, India and China. The smart grid market is truly global, worth at least $27 billion and potentially $49 billion in emerging countries in Eastern Europe, Latin American, Africa and South East Asia, according to a new study from Northeast Group.

Countries like the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia are expected to begin relatively early with their smart grids deployment. AMI deployments will be the bulk of smart grid implementation, but there also is "strong potential" for distribution automation and home energy management technologies such as distributed generation, and EV supply equipment.

The full value of these technologies will not be fully realized without the development of an intelligent grid operating system. Home energy management, distributed generation and EV will transform the grid!

Against this background, we have expanded the scope of our event beyond metering to encompass all ‘smart energy’ elements. Smart Utilities Central & Eastern Europe 2012 is designed to help you make the most of this opportunity.
