Hear from the IESO at Smart Metering Canada 2008
Bruce Campbell, vice president, corporate relations and market development from the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) will be speaking at Smart Metering Canada 2008 and will present an overview of the power industry in Ontario and the continuing role the IESO has to play.

Recently, the IESO was appointed by the Ministry of Energy as the program coordinator for the government's Smart Metering Initiative. In this role, the IESO will coordinate the establishment of the metering infrastructure in cooperation with the province's 90-plus local distribution companies. When the program is fully implemented, the IESO will collect and process data from over 4.5 million meters province-wide.

SPi Group supports Smart Metering Canada 2008

The SPi Group’s CEO, Ven Seshadri, will participate at Smart Metering Canada 2008, taking the lead in a pre-conference workshop on Monday, February 25 as well as moderating a critical panel discussion focusing on the partnerships between utilities and equipment suppliers.  

With several years experience in the industry, Seshadri spent four years with the company (and two years with its predecessor company) as chief operating officer. In that role, he led the company’s finance and operations functions, including managing the rollout of SPi’s EBT Hub services through Ontario’s retail electricity market deregulation process in 2002.

Toronto Hydro to share their experiences at Smart Metering Canada 2008

Steve MacDonald, manager of meter technologies at Toronto Hydro, will join in on the closing day panel at Smart Metering Canada to discuss the future of smart metering.

Toronto Hydro boasts the largest true two-way AMI system in the world bringing back hourly interval data daily from all points. This is an indication of the utility’s out-and-out commitment to meeting the goals set by the Ontario government’s Smart Metering Initiative.
