India’s largest private power utility hosts Metering, Billing/CRM India
Tata Power will support Metering, Billing/CRM India as the official host utility.

The event will take place from October 14-16, 2008 and be co-located with Smart Grids India.

Tata Power is recognized as India’s largest private power utility and pioneered the generation of electricity in India. It has successfully served the Mumbai consumers for over ninety years and has spread its footprints across the nation. Apart from Mumbai and Delhi, the company has generation capacities in Jojobera, Jharkhand and Karnataka.

Increasing demand and reducing blackouts in India – how can the smart grid help?
The 2nd annual Metering, Billing/CRM India will be held from October 14-16, 2008 and officially opened by Rakesh Nath, chairman of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). For the first time, this leading utility event will be co-located with the ‘Smart Grids India’ Executive Forum.

Smart Grids India provides a platform to discuss the transformation that is taking place in the utility industry. According to Anil Razdan, Central Power Ministry secretary, India’s demand for power is increasing at an annual rate of 8 to 10 percent. As the CEA is preparing a national electricity plan for the 12th and 13th plan periods and Electricity on Demand by 2012, the Smart Grids India conference and exhibition could not be timelier.

International focus at Metering, Billing/CRM India: Register before July 31 to qualify for 10% reduced rate!
The 2nd annual Metering, Billing/CRM India taking place October 14-16, 2008 in Mumbai, India will offer a broad international focus.

The high-level speakers at this event include several international case studies on AMI, smart metering, billing and CRM. For the first time this year, the event will also be co-located with Smart Grids India, which will discuss infrastructure requirements and technologies to modernize the existing grid infrastructure and change the “dumb grid” into a “smart grid”.

Chair of Central Electricity Authority to keynote at Metering India
Shri Rakesh Nath, chairperson of India’s Central Electricity Authority (CEA), will deliver the keynote address at Metering, Billing/CRM India 2008. The event will take place from October 14–16 in Mumbai, India.

Shri Rakesh Nath has over 32 years of experience in the power sector in different organizations, including the CEA, Bhakra Beas Management Board, Power Trading Corporation, Northern Regional Electricity Board, Western Region Electricity Board, National Thermal Power Corporation, and Rajasthan State Electricity Board. He has varied experience from the operation and maintenance of thermal and hydropower stations and transmission systems, maintenance of canal systems and regulation of water supply, to the operation of large interconnected regional power grids.

Metering, Billing/CRM India 2008: Call for papers

The deadline for the submission of abstracts for Metering, Billing/CRM India taking place in Mumbai, India from October 14-16, 2008 is just one month away.

The deadline for submission is July 1, 2008.

Metering, Billing/CRM India 2008 will consist of a three-day conference and exhibition, showcasing local and international technologies. The event will attract approximately 400 delegates from Indian utilities and corporates, and includes international case studies, master classes, workshops and a site visit. For the first time, the event will also present ‘Smart Grids India’, focusing on modernizing aging infrastructure as well as the latest technologies available.
 
Metering, Billing/CRM India will give participants an overview of technologies available and engage utility leaders to discuss how these can be implemented to achieve the targets set during the 2nd stage of the Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (APDRP-II). Under APDRP-II, performing power utilities would be reimbursed 50 percent of the project cost as a grant for reducing aggregated technical and commercial (ATC) losses to 15 percent within five years. Non-performers would not be reimbursed and would have to rely on borrowings for the entire requirements of a project.

CPRI supports Metering, Billing/CRM India
The Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) has agreed to serve as a supporting association for Metering, Billing/CRM India. The event takes place 14 – 16 October 2008 in Mumbai, India and detailed information can be found at www.metering.com/india

The CPRI, an autonomous society, serves as a national laboratory for undertaking applied research in electric power engineering, in addition to functioning as an independent National Testing and Certification Authority for electrical equipment and components, to ensure reliability and to improve, innovate and develop new products. The head office of the Institute is in Bangalore and its other units are located at Bhopal, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Ghaziabad, Kolkata and Gauwahati.
