Toronto, ON, Canada --- (METERING.COM) --- November 15, 2006 – The president of Ontario’s largest electricity union has told the Economic Club of Toronto that the time has come “to clarify who the real regulator of electricity in Ontario is and cut the red tape to simplify planning and implementation”.

Don MacKinnon, president of the Power Workers’ Union, suggested during his speech that: “Cutting the red tape and simplifying the planning and implementation process [via the generation of an Integrated Power System Plan] would go a long way towards reducing the regulatory risks encountered by many players in the province’s electricity game.”

The Power Workers’ Union – the largest electricity union in Ontario – believes that Ontarians require an energy supply that derives electricity from a number of sources, to guarantee an affordable, clean and secure supply of energy all year round.
