David Collie appointed new president and CEO of Canada’s ESA

David Collie has been appointed as the new president and CEO of Canada’s Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) with effect from June 30, 2009.

Collie has held the position of president and CEO of Burlington Hydro for the past eight years and also has served for two years as a director on ESA’s Board.

In a statement ESA Board chair John Wiersma says that Collie’s experience and proven track record has garnered him respect and positioned him as an electrical industry leader. Under his leadership Burlington Hydro has earned recognition for its customer service, engineering skills, and twice earned the Electrical and Utilities Safety Association’s prestigious President’s Award for exceptional commitment to employee and public safety. In addition to his experience and dedication to safety, Collie brings an appreciation of the benefit of stakeholder alliances with his energy conservation and demand management efforts being recognized by the Ontario Power Authority Recognition for federal, provincial and municipal partnerships.

“With his experience in the industry, his dedication to public safety, and his recognition of the importance of strong stakeholder alliances, the Board of Directors looks forward to David’s leadership of the Electrical Safety Authority as it continues to evolve the safety culture in Ontario,” says Wiersma.
