Irving, TX, U.S.A. --- (METERING.COM) --- January 3, 2013 - A Letter of Intent has been signed by Colombia’s smart grid standards development effort, led by the national standards organization Icontec with support from the industry body Colombia Inteligente, and the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) to enhance coordination between the two organizations.
The letter identifies particular priorities for collaboration as:
- Smart grid architecture and conceptual model, including sharing of conceptual models, model domains and definitions, and services, stakeholders and roles in the model
- Sharing of use cases, including applications that may be different in Colombian systems, interfaces for interoperability and systems integration, and cybersecurity requirements and technologies
- Testing and certification of smart grid interoperability standards compliance, including testing and certification approaches, development of testing facilities in Colombia, and collaboration in testing and certification programs.
In order to facilitate collaboration specific activities envisioned include information sharing, conference and meeting participation, and joint workshops.
A joint committee could also be established with representation from both organizations to oversee the collaboration.
This is the SGIP’s second letter of intent with a Latin American country, with the first with Ecuador’s national energy control center Cenace. Others are with Korea's Smart Grid Standardization Forum, Europe's Smart Grid Coordination Group, and the Japan Smart Community Alliance.
