Austin, TX, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — December 3, 2012 – Austin Energy is implementing the latest release of Telvent’s advanced distribution management system (ADMS) to modernize its existing distribution grid and improve its overall system performance, availability and security, the company has announced.

Using Telvent smart grid solutions, Austin Energy, the eighth largest community owned electric utility in the U.S., will be able to better meet the business and support needs of its distribution system operations. With the capability to process and model an increasing amount of realtime data, as well as forecast near term energy demand in the presence of distributed energy resources, the ADMS allows the utility to more efficiently operate the grid and support the deployment of renewable energy throughout the distribution network.

“We are pleased to begin our relationship with Austin Energy and look forward to helping the utility continue the development of its smart grid distribution system,” said Telvent’s chairman and CEO, Ignacio Gonzalez. “Our solutions will continue to help utilities respond to the increasing consumer demand for energy and ensure that our technology will continue to guide the modern smart grid market.”
